Mandatory (since 2023 in Nepal for all peak climbs)
Climbing Lobuche Peak (6,119 m / 20,075 ft) is one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking peaks, combining technical challenge with iconic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. There are two summits: Lobuche East (the commonly climbed trekking peak) and Lobuche West (more technical and restricted).
Here’s a full guide to Lobuche Peak Climbing including cost, itinerary, gear, permits, difficulty, and more.
Labuche lies close to the Khumbu Glacier and has two main peaks, Lobuche Far East and Lobuche East. At 6,145 meters, Lobuche East is 26 meters higher. Although the Lobuche East climb is a bit more challenging than Island Peak climb, it is equally rewarding. From the peak you get amazing views of Everest alongside Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Pumori. The 19-day Lobuche East Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek combines Lobuche East Peak climbing with the classic Everest Trek. The trip will also take you to some of the most popular places in the Everest region like Kala Pathar, which provides an excellent view of Everest along with other high mountains.

Today we start our journey from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche with an aesthetic view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The beginning of Our trek follows a smooth and wide trail with few uphill. Along the way, we can see wildlife Musk deer, a herd of Himalayan Thar, and multicolored pheasants. The trail goes gradually down to Kayangjuma and again descends to Dudh Koshi River, On the side of the river, there is a small settlement called Phunki Thanga. We can stop for Lunch at Phunki Thenga, and after the break, we gear up for a slightly tougher climb through the pine forests to Tengboche. Tengboche is the best place for a scenic view of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest and it has the biggest Buddhist Monastery in the Khumbu region. We pay our visit to the monastery the same day at 3 pm to witness the ceremony in the principal and popular monastery of the Everest region. Overnight in a teahouse.
Today's trek to Dingboche begins with a down and flat inside a pine forest, where you may witness wildlife such as Musk deer, Himalayan Thar, and multicolored pheasants. And the pleasurable view of the green valley and white caped mountains can be seen. After we cross the suspension bridge, the trail gradually ascends to Pangboche village passing through several Chortens and Mani. another 40 Minute gradual climbs will take us to Somera, a lunch place for the day.
After Lunch, we spent most of the day walking close to the river with a reasonable ascent towards the end of the walk before arriving at Dingboche. At this altitude of 4410m, the lack of oxygen in your breath is normal. On arrival at Dingboche, we will see a beautiful arrangement of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat, and potatoes farm from the cold winds and animals.
Today we hike up to Nangkarsang peak( Dingboche ri 5070m.) and back to Dingboche .
Today after breakfast we trek to Thukla and stop for some tea and soup then The first portion of our trek is a tough climb up to Chukpo Lari (Memorial wall), a beautiful, yet heartbreaking spot, where we can see many memorials honoring climbers who perished on Everest and other Mountain expeditions. We will continue our trek through the more gradual and smoother trail all the way to Lobuche, a little town with only a few teahouses. This afternoon we will hike around Khumbu Glacier, and stay active with a great view of Nuptse, Lobuche peak, and Pumori. Overnight in Lobuche.
Before the sun came up, we started hiking to one of the trip highlights, Everest base camp. After 4 hours of slow and steady walking over the dry and rocky path, we will be in Gorekshep. We eat lunch, leave our belongings in the teahouse and continue our hike to Everest base camp which is a challenging climb over the rocky moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Along the way to EBC, we can see Mount Everest's summit as well as other mountains like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. Take Memorial Day shots with the impressive Khumbu icefall in the background then trek back to Gorakshep.
Getting up early and hiking to one of the most spectacular viewpoints Kala pather is another crucial day for the trekkers. A couple of hours of breathless ascends to Kala Pather give you an opportunity to see the ideal view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Amadablam as well many as many other Mountains in the Khumbu valley. Catching the panoramic view in our Camera with unforgettable memories in our hearts, we hike down to Gorekshep. After having breakfast at Gorekshep and starting our trek all the way back to Lobuche peak base camp. Lobuche base camp is in a pleasant, secluded valley right below the mountain. We spend the afternoon organizing gear for tomorrow’s move to high camp.
We arrive at the high camp after a three-hour hike, set up camp have lunch, and then relax. We must go to bed early in preparation for tomorrow's early alpine start.
Today we wake up at 1 am have a hearty plentiful breakfast and start climbing to our destination. We begin climbing the Southeast Ridge through a moderately steep snow and ice section. If necessary, we fix ropes along the route. We ascend gradually to a plateau and then navigate around to an exposed ridge, which we will follow to the summit slopes. After about six hours of steady climbing, we reach the far eastern summit. From here it is a steady climb along the summit ridge towards the east summit, which for us marks our summit (also known as false summit). The main summit is not far in distance but requires some technical climbing which is normally beyond the ability of novice climbers, certainly in terms of the time it would take. And this section of the climb is only for very adventuresome people, as there are huge drops on both sides, so this section will be fixed with a rope. From the top, we are well rewarded with superb views across to Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Nuptse, Changtse (in Tibet) Pumori, Gyachung Kang, Cho-Oyu,
Today, the trekking trail is mostly flat and downhill, and it is much more enjoyable heading down in altitude than going up. We descended all the way to Pheriche enjoying the Himalayan scenery. We further headed down to our destination of the day, Thyangboche. We can also take a different trail to visit the Gompa in Upper Pangboche, which is supposed to be the oldest in the Khumbu region or take the regular trail. To Reach Thyangboche we must ascend 30 minutes inside the pine and Rhododendron Forest.
Hiking to Namche is much easier today as we descend to lower altitudes. But we still must climb uphill to trek back to Namche. The mesmerizing scenery of the mountains makes your journey happy and enjoyable. After a 5-Hour walk, you will be arriving in the Himalayan town of Namche
The last day of our trek in Everest is mostly downhill and gradual. Walking through the lush green scenery of rhododendron and pine forests in low altitudes is easier. As we walk through the Sherpa villages, we notice an impressive display of faith in Buddhism and the cultural practices associated with it as prayer stones dot the landscape and prayer flags flap in the wind. The final ascent of about 45 minutes from Chheplung takes us to Lukla, where we stretch our fatigued legs and recall the experiences of the last couple of weeks. This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity to spend some relaxing moments with the whole crew as the porters will not accompany us to Kathmandu. At the evening we celebrate our last day of trekking and climbing with distribute some tips for our staff.
After a long memorial journey in Mountains, today we fly back to Kathmandu. We can rest and relax at the hotel. In the afternoon you can spend your time at last minute shopping or exploring sights you’ve missed. We end our Adventure with a farewell dinner in the evening.
Approximately three hours before your scheduled flight, you will be transferred to the airport by one of our staff members from where you will depart.
